I am interested in the experience that envelops and at the same time almost feels as if it isn’t happening at all. Through my paintings and collages I approach the strange as if it is objective, as if there is a pictorial image that describes an enigmatic experience. An object with violent implications living within a work can persuade a viewer into voyeurism or to become a participant in something uncomfortable but worth the pain. I am most happy when a figure or form becomes a space and when lightness or darkness becomes a figure, and also when the earthly elements begin to live and breathe. I want light, darkness, shadow, form, and figure to become interchangeable and create something transcendental.
